News Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer Details
Back in May the next instalment of the blockbuster series Call of Duty was revealed. Starring Kevin Spacey, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be the first game from Sledgehammer Games, who helped develop Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward and will be set in 2054. After a terrorist attack by a group known as KVA, Private military contractors have become the dominant forces for numerous nations, the most powerful being Atlas.
Today Sledgehammer Games released the Multiplayer trailer, which showcased a lot of the new features players can look forward to seeing and playing with, including the new jumping feature as well as an actual Tsunami! Also revealed were further details about Multuplayer during a live stream event held by Sledgehammer Games.
Four maps were revealed today, Biolab which is an indoor map set in a bioengineering lab, Riot which is set in a prison in Baghdad, Ascend which is set in a space elevator terminal and Defender which is set on the shores of San Francisco next to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Maps have also become much more interactive and feel more alive. For example, Defender has a Tsunami which if you’re in the way, will wash you away!
From Day One of the game’s release there will be 12 game modes available to play online. Confirmed to returning are Capture the Flag, Search and Destroy and the awesome, Hardpoint, which was missing from Call of Duty: Ghosts. One of the new game modes revealed is called Uplink, where two teams fight for control of a drone which can be passed between players.
A number of abilities was also revealed today ranging from Boost Jump, which gives players the option to jump higher, Boost Dodge giving players the chance to dodge whilst on the ground, Exo Cloak which is basically the same as Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak and Super Punch. The clue is in the name, it essentially gives the players the chance to punch the enemy to death. That’s right….you can now Punch the other team to death!
Finally, customizations were revealed in the trailer. With all that Halo like jumping involved in the game, players will be pleased that they can select a Helmet for their character, so as well as jumping like you’re in Halo, you can look like you’re in Halo too! But it’s not all too bad as the Helmets and outfits do actually look pretty good and more stylish than the range of outfits available in Call of Duty: Ghosts. If you really want to bling it up, you can even wear a Gold suit or dye your hair to match the colour of your jacket.
All in all the Multiplayer doesn’t look too bad. Yes there will be so much jumping it’ll be like playing with a group of Kangaroos, but as the Multiplayer trailer shows, jumping can be used as an advantage with awesome mid air sniper shots (cue the FaZe montages), you can even melee whilst jumping! The player screen has everything spaced out into the corners, so the actual player screen doesn’t have a clogged up appearance and the action looks fast paced an exciting.
Call of Duty isn’t for everybody and unfortunately the game has developed a bit of a bad reputation recently with Ghosts being a massive disappointment for many. I think I speak for most that if a competitive mode returns, such as League play, then many Call of Duty fanatics will be happy.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 4th. Tell us what you think in the comments below!
